Abstract:Objective The differences of measuring the absorbed dose according to TRS 277 and TRS 398 by kerma correction factor(Nk)were discussed,aiming to provide references for judging whether it is feasible to measure the absorbed dose according to TRS 398 by kerma correction factor(Nk).Methods First,formulas of the two correction methods were derived and collated theoretically.Then,the differences of the formulas were analyzed and quantified.On this basis,correction factors of three common ion chambers were calculated and compared under 6 MV and 10 MV X-rays by the collated formulas.Results The average deviation between the two calibration methods was less than 0.6%.Conclusion It is feasible to measure the absorbed dose for linear accelerators in the light of TRS 398 standard under the circumstance that the kerma correction factor(Nk)is the only factor that is provided.
