Abstract: | All 269 patients underwent surgery as pancreatic cancer in our institute from 1965 to 1985. Resectability rate was 20.3% (32/158) in the head, 20.7% (19/92) in the body and tail and 0% in the combined lesion. Pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) was performed for the head in 30 patients. Distal pancreatectomy was performed for the body and tail in 16 patients. There were three postoperative deaths in the case which underwent the resection. Operative survival rate in the head was 43.9% at the first year and 27.4% at the 5 th year. Two patients survived more than five years after PD. On the other hand, survival rate in the body and tail was 40% at the first year and 26.4% at the 5 th year. Only one patient is alive 5 years 10 months after distal pancreatectomy. |
