Examination of right ventricular diastolic function in patients with hypertension by strain rate imaging

Objective To explore the value of strain rate imaging (SRI) technology in the examination of early right ventricular diastolic function in patient with hypertension, and to provide guidance for the early diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Methods Fifty patients with primary hypertension were divided into Group Ⅰ (32 patients with normal left ventricular)and Group Ⅱ (18 patients with left ventricular hypertrophy). Thirty healthy individuals were selected as the control group. All the subjects in the three groups were treated by pulse Doppler (PW), Doppler tissue imaging (DTI) and SRI (performed in four different basal myocardial segments with tricuspid valve). Results In group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ, SRe of the four different basal myocardial segments were all significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The SRe/SRa<1 detection rate of Group Ⅱ was significantly higher than that of Group Ⅰ, and that of the control group was the lowest (P<0.05). Total detection rate of SRI (87.50%) was higher than Em/Am<1 of DTI (78%) and the E/A <1 of PW (54%), and these changes were the most pronounced in Group Ⅰ. Conclusion SRI can provide more accurate diagnosis for the early right ventricular diastolic dysfunction in patient with hypertension compared with traditional technologies
