Value of platelet and high sensitive C-reactive protein in the diognosis of Kawasaki disease

Objective To investigate the changes of platelet （PLT） and high sensitive C-reactive protein （hs-CRP） in children with Kawasaki disease, and to explore its clinical significance in the early diagnosis of Kawasaki disease. Methods Fifty-six children with Kawasaki disease and 57 children having similar syndromes without Kawasaki dis- ease were selected as the study group and the control group. Levels of PLT and hs-CRP within seven days after fever and two weeks after treatment by immunoglobulin were detected. The results were compared between the two groups. Results Within seven days after fever, the t value of the levels of PLT between the two groups was 4.432 （P〈0.01）, and the Z value of levels of hs-CRP between the two groups was -1.987 （P〈0.05）. Both the levels of PLT and hs-CRP in the study group were significantly higher than that in the control group within seven days after fever （P〈0.05）. Two weeks after treatment by immunoglobulin, the t value of the levels of PLT between the two groups was 0.411 （P〉0.05）, and the Z value of levels of hs-CRP between the two groups was -0.236 （P 〉0.05）. There was no statistically significant difference be- tween the study group and the control group （P〉0.05）. Conclusion The levels of PLT and hs-CRP are correlated with Kawasaki disease closely, and could be used as effective items for early diagnosis of Kawasaki disease.
