It was thought that the etiology was the wind,cold and dampness,and focusing on cold and dampness evil,and the inherent deficiencies. Kidney deficiency, stagnation of cold-damp, phlegm accumulating with stagnant blood were the basic pathogenesis,in essence,asthenia in origin and excess in superficiality.and deficiency-excess mixing.
