Observation on the Effects and Sleep Quality of Stellate Ganglion Block Combined with Selective Nerve Root Block in Patients with Post-herpetic Neuralgia

Objective:To observe the effects and sleep quality of stellate ganglion block(SGB)combined with selective nerve root block in patients with post-herpetic neuralgia(PHN).Methods:From September 2018 to July 2020,95 PHN patients in Jiading Hospital of TCM were selected as subjects and randomly divided into study group(47 cases)and control group(48 cases).Both groups were treated with neurotrophic and oral analgesics medication.The control group received selective nerve root block,while the study group received SGB combined with selective nerve root block.The visual analogue scale(VAS)scores,self-rating anxiety and depression scale(SAS,SDS)scores,sleep quality(SRSS)scores,and therapeutic effects were observed.Results:The total response rate in the study group was 95.74%,significantly higher than 83.33%in the control group(P<0.05).Before treatment,no significant differences were found in VAS,SAS,SDS scores between the 2 groups(P>0.05).After treatment,the study group got significantly lower VAS,SAS and SDS scores than the control group(P<0.05).Besides,the SRSS scores of study group were significantly lower than those of the control group(t=3.734,P<0.05).Conclusion:SGB combined with selective nerve root block can effectively relieve PHN and unhealthy emotions,improve their life and sleep quality,with good therapeutic effects.
