| Abstract: | Infections caused by extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing pathogens, particularly Klebsiella pneumoniae, are increasing. The epidemiology of ESBL-producing K. pneumoniae, the mechanisms of resistance, and treatment strategies for infections caused by these organisms are reviewed. |
