Abstract:The study concerns Phrenic discharge response during apnea after Pulmonary stretch receptor block by inhalation of 300ppm SO_2 in 13 anesthetized. paralyzed and artificially ventilated rabbits. The results are as follows: The frequency of integrated phrenic discharge was significantly increased (P<0.05) and the inflation lung reflex was greatly weakened or completely abolished after exposure to SO_2 The latent, excitatory and inhibitory periods during apnea were prolongated, among which the excitatory period and the enduring duration of apnea (EDA) were significantly prolongated (P<0.01) after stretch receptor block by SO_2. The dada suggest that EDA can be Prolongated after stretch receptor block by SO_2.
