Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of glycaemic control on plasma soluble E-selectin(sE-selectin) levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to measure the plasma sE-selectin before and after glycaemic control in 60 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and compared with 23 healthy subjects(control group). Results Before treatment,sE-selectin levels were significantly higher in diabetic patients than in nondiabetic control subjects.sE-selectin concentrations were positively correlated with body mass index(BMI),HbA1C,fructosamine and fasting C-peptide.3 weeks after glycacemic control treatment,sE-selectin decreased significantly, but these levels still didn't reach to those of control subjects. Conclusion Plasma sE-selectin levels may be related to obesity,hyperglycemia.Down-regulation plasma sE-selectin in glycaemic control for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus might be contributed to prevent and treat diabetic vascular complications.
Keywords:diabetes mellitus,type 2  sE-selectin   diabetic complication
