Abstract:Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of isoflurane on signal transducers and activators of transduction 3 (STAT3) of hippocampus in neonatal rats. Methods Twelve 7 day old SD neonatal rats were randomly divided into 2 groups (n=6 each): isoflurane group (group I) inhaled 1.5% isoflurane (flow 2L/min) and 40% oxygen for 6 hours; control group (group C) inhaled 40% oxygen for 6 hours. SPO2 and pulse rate were measured during the experiments. The hippocampal STAT3 immunoreactivity were detected by immunohistochemistry SABC method. Results There were no significant difference in HR and SPO2 between group C and group I(P>0.05). Hippocampus cells in Group C had no obvious abnormalities and brown granules confluensed into film deposition can be seen in intracytoplasmic . Many cells in groups I were vacuolated change, little brown particles deposition can be seen in intracytoplasmic. Conclusion STAT3 expression was inhibited in neonatal rats hippocampus after 6h inhalated 1.5% isoflurane.
