Etiologies monitoring of viral diarrhea of children in Kunming

Objective To understand the pathogens characteristics of viral diarrhea in Kunming city,Yunnan province,and provide reference for clinical treatment and making targeted diseases prevention and control measures.Methods Diarrheal fecal samples of young children under 5 years old in Kunming were collected from January 2018 to December 2019.Through real-time PCR,Rotavirus,Norovirus,Adenovirus,Astrovirus,Sapovirus were detected,epidemiological characteristics of these viruses were analyzed.Results A total of 418 samples were collected,including 258 male patients and 160 female patients,with the ratio value of 1.61∶1,the detection rate of male patients was 69.38%,the detection rate of female patients was 63.75%,and the ratio of male to female detection rates was 1.09∶1.and the patients were mainly concentrated in scattered children and kindergartens with concentrated populations.The detection rate of diarrhea virus in the infectious department was as high as 83.43%.Most of the patients were≤1 year old.The detection rate of diarrhea virus in 1~<2 years old reached 83.33%in boy and 86.54%in girl.Rotavirus and Norovirus epidemics occurred in winter and spring,Norovirus outbreak in autumn and winter,and other diarrheal viruses such as Adenovirus,Astrovirus,Sapovirus were highly prevalent in spring.Adenovirus detect rate was the highest in summer.Conclusion Both Rotavirus and Norovirus are the main pathogens causing young children diarrhea in Kunming.Different viruses outbreak in different periods of the season.We should pay more attention to the Rotavirus and Norovirus which could cause outbreaks in winter and spring.Therefore,specific targeted prevention and control programs and measures should be made for these viruses.
