Correlation between blood glucose level and fractional flow reserve in patients with coronary intermediate lesion

Objective To review the influence of different levels of blood glucose on coronary fractional flow reserve(FFR)in patients with coronary intermediate lesion.Methods The patients(n=65)with coronary intermediate lesion received coronary angiography(CAG)and FFR detection were chosen from Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology from Dec.2014 to Dec.2018.The patients were divided,according to levels of blood glucose,into normal fasting glucose group(NFG group,n=28),impaired fasting glucose group(IFG group,n=23)and diabetes mellitus group(DM group,n=14).The difference in FFR among 3 groups were compared by using analysis of variance,and correlation between fasting blood glucose(FBG)and FFR was reviewed by using Pearson correlation analysis.Results There were statistical difference in FFR among 3 groups[(0.82±0.08)vs.(0.72±0.08)vs.(0.75±0.09),P<0.001].Compared with NFG group,FFR decreased in varying degrees in IFG group(P<0.001)and DM group(P=0.001),and there was no statistical difference in FFR between IFG group and DM group(P=1.161).The results of Pearson correlation analysis showed that FBG was negatively correlated to FFR(r=-0.682,P<0.001).The results of Logistic regression analysis showed that FBG was a predictive factor to FFR≤0.80(OR=2.20,95%CI:1.395~3.469;P=0.001).Conclusion FFR will decrease in the patients with coronary intermediate lesion complicated by IFG or DM,which indicates that the reduction of flow reserve will lead myocardial ischemia in supply area.The value of FFR is negatively correlated to FBG level.
