| Abstract: | Objective:To investigate the relationship between serum tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) and insulin resistance(IR), blood glucose, and blood lipids in type Ⅱ diabetes mellitus (DM). Methods: Seventy-seven type Ⅱ DM patients weredivided into two groups by BMI which included 53 normal weight patients (BMI＜25 kg/m2) and 24 obese patients (BMI≥25 kg/m2) and 30 healthy persons were in control group. Serum TNFα,blood glucose,insulin,C peptide,and blood lipids(cholesterol and triglyceride) were measured in all patients and control group. Results: (1) TNFα level was significantlyhigher in DM than that in control group (P＜0.01). (2)There was a negative correlation between TNFα and insulin sensi-tivity index (ISI) (r=－0.200, P＜0.05), and a positive correlation between TNFα and age (r=0.364, P＜0.01). (3)The level of triglyceride in DM was significantly higher than that in control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion:TNFα increasesin DM, and is significantly different from that in control group. Dyslipidosis in type Ⅱ DM mainly presents hypertrig-lyceridemia. |
