Abstract:In rats of acute experimental hypertension, single and cooperative decreasing blood pressure effects of electroacupunctrure (EA) at Quchi(LI11)and Fenglong (ST 40)points, the effects of EA on unit discharges of locus coeruleus and blocking effect of naloxone on the decreasing blood pressure effect of EA were investigat ed. The results showed that single EA of single Quchi or Fenglong point could decrease significantly blood pressure. and the cooperative effect of EA at the two points in decreasing blood pressure was obviously superior to that of EA at Quchi or Fenglong point. The decreasing blood pressure effect of EA at Quchi point could be abolished by intravenous injection of naloxone. When blood pressure was reduced by EA of Quchi point, the discharge activiTy of the locus coeruleus (LC)would be decreased. It is suggested that the decreasing blood pressue effect of EA on the experimental hypertension is not very related with reduction of cardiac output, and the blood pressure falling effect of EA at Quchi point is related with the inhibition of firing activity of LC, and release of endogenous opioid substances may be an important intermediary link in the mechanism of the blood pressure falling.
