Preoperative diagnosis of testicular torsion

Based on the premise that a “torqued” testicle is avascular whereas one with an inflammatory process has increased vascularity, rectilinear scans can be used to facilitate or direct therapy in scrotal conditions. Our study is in its embryonic stage. We are awaiting determination of its overall diagnostic accuracy, not only in torsion and epididymitis but also in neoplasia and any other entities that might lend themselves to this modality.
