Effects of Rehabilitation of Enhancing Balancing Capabilities on Patients with Pusher Syndrome

Objective: To explore the effects of rehabilitation of enhancing balancing capabilities on patients with Pusher syndrome.Methods: Sixty-two patients with Pusher syndrome were divided into control group(n=29) and treatment group(n=33) according to the admission time.Patients in the control group were treated with conventional rehabilitation therapy whereas in the treatment group with rehabilitation therapy of enhancing balancing capabilities in addition to the conventional rehabilitation therapy for 4 weeks.Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA),Berg balance scale(BBS) and modified barthel index(MBI) were conducted to assess the motor capability,balance capability and activities of daily living(ADL) at beginning and 4 weeks after rehabilitation.Results: Four weeks after rehabilitation,the scores of FMA,BBS and MBI were higher than those before rehabilitation(P<0.05) in the both groups.Scores of patients in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05) 4 weeks after rehabilitation.Conclusion: Rehabilitation therapy of enhancing balancing capabilities is beneficial to improving the motor capability,balancing capability and ADL of patients with Pusher syndrome.
