Abstract: | Spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee was originally described as a distinct disorder in 1968. Characteristic imaging findings and distinctive demographic and clinical factors help distinguish this disease from other osteonecrotic conditions, with which it can be confused. This report presents a rare, atypical case of bicondylar spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee in a young patient, and highlights the importance of a clear understanding of the clinical and radiographic characteristics of this condition to accurately diagnose and treat it when evaluating osteonecrotic lesions of the knee. |
