Abstract:The in vitro wear test (ISO 14242) is based on good laboratory control conditions and operating specifications to simulate the joint load and motion angle range of the human walking gait. It is widely used to compare the wear resistance of different materials and designs of hip prosthesis. Based on the research literature of in vitro wear test and clinical wear evaluation, this article introduces the in vitro wear standard test method and its application in the design and development of hip joint prosthesis, and discusses the limitations, research progress and future development directions of the in vitro wear standard method.
