Effect of combined administration of thyroxine on relapse rates in Graves' disease in different level TSH

Objective To investigate the effect of combined administration of thyroxine on relapse rates in Graves' disease during antithyroid drug treatment.Methods Sixty-eight cases with newly-diagnosed Graves' disease were divided into two groups,low-TSH level group and normal-TSH level group,according the level of TSH,and were received combined administration of thyroxine.The relapse rates were calculated and compared at different time of 30d,60d and 90d.Results The relapse rate of low-TSH level group were higher than normal-TSH level group at 30d,60d and 60d with a statistical difference(P<0.05).Conclusion When the serum level of TSH didn't rise to normal level and thyroxine were added to combination treatment in Graves' disease,the relapse rate were higher.Low-dose thyroxine administration should be combined treatment to lower the relapse rate when the serum level of TSH rises to normal level.
