Correlations of serum adiponectin and visfatin levels with preeclampsia in patients with gestational diabetes

Objective To observe the expressions of serum adiponectin and visfatin and to analyze the correlations of them two with preeclampsia in patients with gestational diabetes. Methods Totally 369 patients with gestational diabetes(gestational diabetes group) and 363 healthy pregnant women(control group) completed delivery and were detected the levels of serum adiponectin and visfatin. Gestational diabetes group was redivided into preeclampsia group and non-preeclampsia group, and the levels of serum adiponectin and visfatin were compared between two groups. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between serum adiponectin and visfatin, multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of preeclampsia, and ROC was drawn to evaluate the efficacies of serum adiponectin and visfatin levels on predicting the occurrence of preeclampsia in patients with gestational diabetes. Results The level of adiponectin was lower and the level of visfatin was higher in gestational diabetes group((142.76±26.79) ng/L,(26.52±7.64) μg/L) than that in control group((205.43±37.95) ng/L,(14.16±6.97) μg/L)(P<0.05). The level of adiponectin was lower and the level of visfatin was higher in preeclampsia group((132.84±13.94)ng/L,(34.61±23.52)μg/L)than that in non-preeclampsia group((143.76±25.78)ng/L,(25.70±8.32)μg/L)(P<0.05).The serum adiponectin level was negatively correlated with visfatin level(r=-0.325,P<0.001),and the levels of serum adiponectin and visfatin were the independent risk factors of preeclampsia in patients with gestational diabetes(OR=1.902,95%CI:0.879-1.926,P<0.001;OR=1.180,95%CI:1.128-1.233,P<0.001).When the optimal cut-off values of serum adiponectin and visfatin levels were 135.921 ng/L and37.268μg/L,the AUCs for predicting preeclampsia in patients with gestational diabetes were 0.916(95%CI:0.854-0.979,P<0.001)and 0.835(95%CI:0.741-0.928,P<0.001),the sensitivities were 87.8%and 82.4%,and the specificities were 94.1% and 96.7%,respectively.Conclusion The abnormal expressions of serum adiponectin and visfatin might be the influencing factors of preeclampsia in patients with gestational diabetes,and both of serum adiponectin and visfatin can be used to predict the risk of preeclampsia.
