Abstract: | A survey of acute trusts' nurse cadet schemes in England showed a wide variety in entry requirements and qualifications offered. Most schemes offered successful students a place on a nurse training scheme. Legal issues surrounding 16-year-olds working in hospitals need to be clarified. Standardisation of entry requirements and course qualifications is required. At present, a student could complete a cadet course in one part of the country and not be eligible for nurse training elsewhere. |
