Expression of serum IgE,IL-5 and HMGB1 in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis and its clinical significance

Objective:To investigate the expression of serum IgE,IL-5 and HMGB1 in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis(CRS)and its clinical significance.Methods:The patients with CRS in Otorhinolaryngology Department of our hospital were selected and divided into CRS with nasal polyps group(CRSwNP group,91 cases)and CRS without nasal polyps group(CRSsNP group,75 cases).After admission,all patients were given standard treatment,and 60 patients diagnosed as simple deviation of nasal septum were selected as control group.The levels of serum IgE,IL-5 and HMGB1 in the three groups were measured,and the curative effect of bilateral nasal cavity was evaluated according to Lund-Kennedy score.Results:Before treatment,the levels of serum IgE,IL-5 and HMGB1 in CRSwNP group and CRSsNP group were significantly higher than those in the control group,and the three in CRSwNP group were significantly higher than those in CRSsNP group(P<0.05).After treatment,the three in CRSwNP group were significantly higher than those in CRSsNP group at 1,2,3 and 4 weeks after treatment(P<0.05 or P<0.01),and the two groups showed a downward trend over time.The Lund-Kennedy score of CRSwNP group was significantly higher than that of CRSsNP group before treatment(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference between the two groups at 1,2,3 and 4 weeks after treatment(P>0.05).Conclusion:The levels of serum IgE,IL-5 and HMGB1 in patients with CRS are higher than those in normal people,which decrease after treatment.
