Distribution and characteristics of endothelin in acute rejection kidney after renal transplantation

Objective:To study the distribution and characteristics of endothelin(ET) in acute rejection kidney after renal transplantation.Methods: The pathologic method, immunohistochemistry and quantitative analysis were used to determine ET content and distribution in 48 cases of acute rejection and 8 cases of normal kidney. Results:The distribution of ET was accordance with the pathologic change,acute tubular necrosis (ATN) in renal tubule was dominant in ATN group , and the damage to vascular endothelium was dominant in interstitial rejection(IR) group whereas vascular rejection (VR) group was characterized by damage of glomeruli. There was a significant difference of endothelin content between disorder and normal groups(P<0. 05 or P<0.01) ,that between ATN and VR groups (P<0.05 or P<0.01) and that between IR and VR groups (P<0. 05 or P<0.01). Conclusion:It is important to determine the content of endothelin for treatment of rejection with antagonist.
