Abstract: | This paper explores what occurs when screening and assessment tools are integrated into clinical practice. Although there is an overall need for a standardized process and a shared mental health screening tool, no such system is currently in place. The challenges faced by addiction and mental health centres in under-serviced regions of Ontario are discussed at length, where minimally trained staff struggle with the high-demand of clientele and low resources. The need for better trained staff as well as standardized terminology are also discussed in terms of challenges incorporating systematic screening and assessment processes. |
