Abstract: | The "Nuss procedure", a new minimally invasive repair of pectus excavatum, is an innovative of surgery and thoracoscopy combined with the proper placement of the bar to achieve correction of pectus excavatum. Patients with significant pectus deformities often experience embarrassment and shame due to perceived abnormalities in their appearance. The Nuss procedure can help them improve their body image by achieving excellent cosmetic results. This article introduces traditional treatment approaches to pectus excavatum repair and the principles underlying the Nuss procedure as well as indications, advantages and nursing care guidelines relevant to the latter. It is hoped this paper will provide new information on required nursing care and assist patients achieve optimal medical treatment outcomes. |
