Abstract: | Mikulicz syndrome is a term used to denote any bilateral chronic enlargement of the lacrimal and salivary glands due to a specific disease process other than Mikulicz disease (benign lymphoepithelial lesion). The purposes of this article are to describe the differential diagnosis of Mikulicz syndrome, illustrate it by a case arising from malignant lymphoma, and make an attempt to place Mikulicz, his syndrome, and his disease in historical perspective, thereby shedding light on the confusion which has surrounded these terms in recent literature. |
