Effects of Passive Smoking on Female Rat Reproductive Endocrine Hormones

Objective To study effects of passive smoking on reproduetive endocrine; hormones in female Wistar rat serum. Methods Thirty two heahhy female Wistar rats were divided into the control and the passive smoking groups randomly, 16 rats of each group. The passive smoking groups were treated with passive smoking for 3 months, and the control group were ted normally. The two group were sacrificed after 3 months treatment. The blood was taken from the heart. The levels of reproductive endocrine hormones in serum were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ ELISA ）. Results The levels of E2, P4 and FSH were obviously lower in the smoking model group than that of the control group（ P 〈0.01） ;tire levels of LH and GnRH were lower in tire smoking model group than that of the control group （ P 〈 0.05 ）. Conclusion Passive smoking can degrade the serum levels of E2, P4, FSH, LH and GnRH of female rats. The result indicates that passive smoking can cause disorders of reproductive endocrine.
