Abstract: | Cervical pregnancy is rare but one of the most dangerous ofall pregnancy complications. The aetiology of cervical implantationis unclear and because of the fear of profuse haemorrhage abdominalhysterectomy has been historically considered the standard therapy. We report here an unusual case of an infertile woman with cervicalectopic pregnancy after ovulation induction with gonadotrophinsand intra-uterine insemination. The patient was successfullytreated with parenteral methotrexate without significant morbidity. It is concluded that chemotherapy should be initially consideredin most cervical pregnancies either as the sole form of treatmentor to improve the chances of success in alternative conservativemeasures. |
