Abstract: | The potentiometric titration method is used to observe a conformational change in the poly-(acrylic acid) chain during the neutralization of different syndiotactic acrylic acid polymers in aqueous solution. The conformational transition is shown as the degree of neutralization, ∝ = 0.3 and is the basis and the interpretation of the gelation mechanism of a high acrylic polymer, normally used in neutralized solution to obtain high viscous emulsions or uncoloured suspensions and perfectly translucent gels the consistency of which is not affected by significant temperature variations. |
