| Abstract: | This survey was carried out among primary and middleschool students both in Hefei urban and rural areas in 1991. the results showed that prevalences of caries in the city were higher than those in the rural areas the prevalences of temporary teeth among male and female students were 31.8% and 28.03% respectively, and those of permanent teeth were 24. 93% for males and 28.93% for tfemales. the data also revealed that the prevalences of temporary teeth both in the urban and rural areas had increased from 74.7% and 46.04% in 1982 to 80.38% and 55.37% in 1991 , but the prevalence of permanent teeth was increased only in the rural areas |
