Abstract:In June 2009, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Division of Allergy, Immunology and Transplantation (DAIT), sponsored a workshop entitled Mast Cells in Innate and Adaptive Immunity. International experts in mast cell biology discussed recent advances in the field and future areas of research aimed at advancing our understanding of the importance of mast cells in shaping nonallergic, adaptive immunity to infection.
