Expression of ACTL6A in rectal cancer and its relationships with clinicopathological parameters and prognosis

Objective:To investigate the expression of Actin-like 6(ACTL6A)in rectal cancer and its relationships with clinicopathological parameters and prognosis.Methods:From April 2012 to December 2014,60 patients with rectal cancer who were treated by radical resection of rectal cancer in Tangshan Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine were selected as the study objects,and their cancer tissues and adjacent tissues were taken,the expression of ACTL6A in cancer tissue and adjacent tissue samples was detected by immunohistochemistry,and the relationships between the expression level of ACTL6A and clinical pathological parameters,prognosis were analyzed and compared,Logistic multiple regression analysis of prognostic factors in patients with rectal cancer.Results:The positive expression rates of ACTL6A in cancer and adjacent tissues were 78.33%and 18.33%respectively,that meant,the positive expression of ACTL6A in cancer was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues(P<0.05);the expression level of ACTL6A protein was related to TNM stage,lymph node metastasis,differentiation degree,invasion depth and tumor size(P<0.05),but not to gender,age,smoking and drinking(P>0.05);Kaplan-Meie analysis showed that the median survival time of ACTL6A negative expression group was significantly longer than that of positive expression group(P<0.05);in addition,logistic multivariate analysis showed that TNM staging(OR=2.078,95%CI:1.207~3.579,P<0.05),lymph node metastasis(OR=2.144,95%CI:1.546~2.973,P<0.05),infiltration depth(OR=2.026,95%CI:1.124~3.651,P<0.05),and ACTL6A expression(OR=2.462,95%CI:1.697~3.572,P<0.05)were all risk factors for poor prognosis of rectal cancer patients.Conclusions:ACTL6A is highly expressed in cancer tissues of patients with rectal cancer,and its expression level is related to clinical TNM stage,lymph node metastasis,differentiation degree,depth of invasion and tumor size.ACTL6A can be used as an independent predictor of prognosis of patients with rectal cancer,and has high application value.
