Relationship between Erythrocyte Calcium and Red Cell Deformability during Cardiopulmonary Bypass
Abstract:elationship between erythrocyte Calcium and red cell deformability during cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB) were explored.Erythrocytes Calcium content(E Ca~2+), activities of Ca~2+,Mg~2+ ATPase, index filtration(IF), mean corpuscular volume(MCV) peri CPB were assayed in 30 patients with noncynotic congenital heart disease.Results showed that E Ca~2+ and IF increased significantly at the begining of CPB, and the peak value was at 2 hours post CPB.The activities of Ca~2+,Mg~2+ ATPase and Na~+,K~ ATPase were increased at the begining of CPB, and then decreased.E Ca~2+ was closely related to MCV and IF(r=0.47, 0.88 respectively).These suggest that the Calcium overload of erythrocytes is an important factor of reduced red cell deformability during CPB.
