Applications of Common Bioinformatics Technology in Study of Chinese Medicinal Resources

Bioinformatics, arising in the late 20th century, is one of the major frontiers of life sciences and natural sciences of this century. Extensive applications of bioinformatics in life science research field result in huge economic and social benefits. Chinese medicinal resources including plant, animal, and mineral are the basis of the development of Chinese medicine industry. Among them, Chinese medicinal plant resource is natural source and is the most widely used Chinese medicine resources. The rise and rapid development of bioinformatics have made great progress and achievements in the world, provided new research ideas to the study of Chinese medicine resources, and greatly promoted the study of Chinese medicine resources and industrial development. This review gives a comprehensive collection and analysis of the application of bioinformatics in the study of Chinese medicine resources and an outlook of bioinformatics, so as to provide the basic information and ideas for the study of it.
