Abstract: | A case of transfixation injury of the heart and lung caused by a spear is reported. A bullock-cart proved handy to transport the patient with a 2-metre-long spear impaled in the chest. Withdrawal of the spear only after thracotomy was an essential step in the management and contributed to the successful outcome. Both right atrium and lung had wounds of entry and exit which is unusual. |
