GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF CHINESE INFANTS OF HUNAN PROVINCE I. BODY WEIGHT, STANDING HEIGHT AND SITTING HEIGHT DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF LIFE

From the fall of 1934 to spring of 1937, through the courtesy ofDr. J. L.Li, Superintendent of the Hunan Maternity Hospital, we hadthe opportunity of organizing a Well-Baby Clinic in that hospital.The chief purpose of this clinic was to take care and follow up babiesdelivered in the hospital and in the field by their staff. There wereover l,300 babies registered in those two and half years. At eachvisit, they received regular examinations, advices on feeding and careand prophylactic inoculations. The majority of them were frequentlybrought to the clinic. .
