Correlation between Framingham Risk Score and Prognosis of Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss

Objective To investigate the correlation between Framingham risk score and prognosis of sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSNHL).Methods We recruited 242 SSNHL patients who were treated in our hospital from January 2018 to January 2020,and collected the clinical data.The Framingham risk score was employed to evaluate the cardiovascular risk factors of all patients and calculate the Framingham risk score to evaluate the risk of coronary heart disease in the next 10 years.The participants were divided into low-risk group(n=142),medium-risk group(n=72)and high-risk group(n=28)according to the risk score,and the clinical characteristics and hearing prognosis of the three groups were compared.The effect of Framingham risk score on the prognosis of SSNHL was further investigated by univariate and multivariate analyses.Results In comparison with low-risk group,the age,initial hearing threshold,the rate of hypertension,diabetes and smoking,systolic blood pressure,total cholesterol and Framingham risk scores were higher and the level of high-density lipoprotein was lower in the medium-risk group and high-risk group(P<0.05).After treatment,the overall recovery rate and the rate of marked recovery in the low-risk group was 71.83%and 28.17%,which were higher than those in the medium-risk group and high-risk group(58.33%,13.89%and 50.00%,14.29%,P<0.05),respectivery,and the rates of partial recovery and no recovery among three groups had no statistical difference(P>0.05).Multivariate analysis results showed that Framingham risk score,treatment delay time,and initial hearing threshold were significantly correlated with the poor prognosis in SSNHL patients.Conclusion The degree of hearing loss in SSNHL patients was positively correlated with Framingham risk score.Higher Frmingham risk score,longer treatment delay time,and higher initial hearing threshold were associated with poorer hearing recovery.
