Abstract: | It is well known that liver tyrosine aminotransferase activity is induced by administration of steroids to adrenalectomized rats. When total soyasaponins were injected intraperitoneally into adrenalectomized rats, liver tyrosine aminotransferase activity was not found to be induced. Administration of a low dose of cortisone (2.5 mg/kg body weight) to adrenalectomized rats also failed to induce liver tyrosine aminotransferase. On the other hand, this enzyme was found to be induced by administration of this low dose of cortisone with total soyasaponins (100 mg/kg body weight). |
