Abstract: | Pregnant rats were fed a regimen of ethanol and metrecal from the tenth day of pregnancy until delivery. Control females received metrecal and an isocaloric replacement of ethanol with sucrose. Tyrosine hydroxylase activity was measured in the caudate nuclei of the offspring at 1, 2 and 3 weeks of age. The activity of the enzyme was found to be significantly increased in pups whose mothers were exposed to ethanol. |
