Atorvastatin in early treatment of patients with acute cerebral infarction

Objective:To observe the early use of Atorvastatin on clinical results in patients with acute cerebral infarction.Methods:24 cases of acute cerebral infarction were randomly divided into two groups,study group and control group in our hospital from March 2009 to March 2010.Patients of study group were scheduled oral Atorvastatin in early treatment of acute cerebral infarction.Patients of control group were treated by traditional methods.Recurrence rate of stroke and Neurological deficit score before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.Results:After one year of treatment,neurological deficit score of patients in study group was significantly different compared to control group(P<0.05).The stroke recurrence rate in study group was significantly lower than that of control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Atorvastatin has obvious effects to avoid recurrence of stroke and improve recovery of neurological function.
