Abstract: | We describe the first case of successfully treated exogenous aspergillus endophthalmitis following penetrating injury and primary scleral wound repair. After repeated vitreous surgery with multiple intravitreous instillations of amphotericin B combined with intravenous antifungal therapy the patient's visual acuity was 6/18. A vigorous approach in the management of mycotic endophthalmitis is emphasised and the role of closed vitrectomy discussed. |
