Abstract: | Zusammenfassung In einer Zeitspanne von über 20 Jahren (1.
Dekompression—richten soll.
Summary During a period of more than twenty years (October 1, 1950 to March 20, 1973) 372 operations were performed on cases of subdural
hematoma at the Graz University Clinic of Neurosurgery.
106 patients displayed a unilateral acute subdural hematoma; in 21 cases there was a bilateral acute hematoma.
In distinction of other-less rigorous-statistics, the definition of the term “acute subdural hematoma” in this report ist
based on the occurrence of an absolutely or relatively free interval of no more than four days.
Our results seem to permit the conclusion that one should not hesitate to perform an operation, which should aim at both evacuating
the hematoma and relieving the primarily damaged brain by bilateral subtemporal decompression.
