Investigation and analysis on critical thinking disposition of nursing managers

Objective To investigate the present status of nursing managers＇critical thinking disposition and its related factors. Method A total of 143 clinical nursing managers were investigated with Critical Thinking of Disposition Inventory - Chinese Version （ CTDI - CV）. Results The mean score of nursing managers＇critical thinking disposition was （301.11 ±26.91 ） ,53.15% of them had positive critical thinking disposition and 4.90% had strong critical thinking. In the 7 dimensions of critical thinking,the seore of truth finding dimension was less than 40 points. Age,length of service,and educational background of nursing managers were correlated with their critical thinking disposition （P 〈 0.01 or P 〈 0.05 ）. Conclusion The training for nursing managers should focus on improving their critical thinking ability. The nursing managers who are young and have received higher education should be actively cultivated so as to improve the overall quality of nursing managers.
