Abstract:Objective To observe the protective effect of Oak spray on radiation - induced skin injury from postoperative radiotherapy for breast cancer patients. Methods The breast cancer patients who accepted linear accelerator radiotherapy were randomly grouped into experimental group and control group, each consisting of 40 members. The patients in the experimental group were treated with Oak spray in their radiated skin area before radiotherapy and going to sleep; while the patients in the control group were treated with conventional skin care methods and health education instead of any special protective measures. The reaction after radiotherapy and change after using Oak spray were adopted as observation indexes to compare the incidence of radiation - induced skin injury between the patients in the two groups. Result The incidence of radiation - induced skin injury in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group with the statistical significance(P 〈 0.05). Conclusion The application of Oak spray will delay the occurrence of skin reaction, improve the skin' s tolerance to radiation, and effectively protect the breast caneer patients against radiation - induced skin injury from postoperative radiotherapy.
