Abstract: | Summary Cumulative dose-response curves for histamine were determined on acid secretion from the isolated guinea pig gastric mucosa. Two H2-receptor antagonists—metiamide and cimetidine—behaved like competitive antagonists to histamine on gastric acid secretion in vitro. The isolated guinea pig gastric mucosa seems to be a suitable in vitro model for analysing the action of compounds on receptors involved in acid secretion. |
