Abstract: | A study of the effect of growth of Trichinella spiralis in rats fed a folic-acid-deficient diet is described. Trichinella spiralis larvae encysted in the diaphragms of two groups—rats fed a folic acid-deficient diet and rats fed a complete (normal) diet—were examined. In rats fed a folic-acid-deficient diet, the number of the encysted larvae was larger than that in the controls. However, the encysted larvae were substantially longer in the control group of rats fed complete (normal) diets. |
