Abstract:As a common geriatric disease and complication, obesity and the metabolic syndrome are no longer the problems of certain developed countries and regions. They have become a serious medical and health problem for all nations of the world. Obesity may cause the elderly metabolic diseases, respiratory system diseases, cardiovascular system diseases, bone and joint degeneration, sex hormones disorders, venous stasis, deep venous thrombosis and various cancers. Its effect upon health and threat towards life should not be underestimated and the social problems and economic losses it brings are beyond calculation. Some fat cells associated genes and obesity genes are closely related to obesity and the metabolic syndrome. Therefore, effective regulation of the expression of obesity genes and associated factors has significant clinical implications for controlling the development and transformation of obesity and the metabolic syndrome. By reviewing relevant literature on obesity associated genes and their relationship with related clinical diseases, this paper hopes to provide basis and lay foundation for the prevention of obesity and designing of treatment medicine that target these obesity genes.
