Abstract:MiRNAs are endogenous,single-stranded and non-coding,small RNAs(about 16 to 25 nucleotides in length).RNA-induced silencing complexes(RISCs) are formed in the principle of base complementary pairing between miRNAs and the 3′UTR of targeted mRNAs.They inhibit the translation of proteins or promote the decomposition of mRNAs and in turn to regulate the expression of targeted genes negatively.miRNAs play extensive roles in the cardiovascular system.They interact with targeted mRNAs,stimulate or inhibit several signaling pathways,and thus affect the development of cardiovascular system and cardiovascular diseases.The discoveries of miRNAs have provided new explanation for disease mechanisms and thus contribute to the diagnosis or treatment for a variety of cardiovascular diseases.
