Effects Observation 90 Cases of Autograft Transplantation of Corneal Limbal Stem Cells Combined with Intraoperative Application of Mitomycin Con Recurrent Pterygium

Objective To evaluate the postoperative effect and recurrence rate of autograft transplantation of corneal limbal stem cells combined with intraoperative application of mitomycin C （MMC） in the treatment of recurrent pterygium. Methods 90 eyes of 89 patients affected by recurrent pterygia and referred to our ophthalmologic department were retrospectively considered. Each patient underwent an autograft transplantation of corneal limbal stem cells combined with intraoperative application of mitomycin C. The patients were followed up for 6-24 months. Results 2 cases of reccurrences after treatment were detected（2.22% ）, the rate of operation success is 97.78%, while 5 eyes（5.55%） were diagnosed with the complication of superficial punctate keratitis. They don＇t treat for special processing and 5-7 days heals. Conclusions Autograft transplantation of corneal limbal stem cells combined with intraoperative application of MMC is useful to reduce the recurrence rate of oterygium.
