Preoperative breast marking to correct asymmetrical mammary hypertrophy

Summary The preoperative marking based on standard patterns may mislead the surgeon when the breasts are asymmetrical, necessitating intraoperative readjustments to obtain a good result. A new method for preoperative breast marking in reduction mammaplasty that is particularly suitable for breast asymmetry correction, is presented. The design is not predetermined but varies with the shape of each breast and allows the excision of different amounts of skin, leaving skin flaps of equal shape in both breasts.
